Trends and Talkers: UH FootballUPDATED 10:14 AM HST Nov 05, 2013Video Transcript
PAUSE FOR MUSIC As Robert just reported, UH Athletics Director Ben Jay is standing by Norm Chow. The head coach was quoted saying "I'm too old for this", after Utah State crushed the Rainbow Warrior, 47-10. Hawaii is now 0-8. On facebook we asked, What do you think UH should do now? Dennis Smith says, "UH should support him and allow him to build his program. It was in nasty shape when he got here. It takes just a little time. And of course, he's responsible for the injuries our players have suffered. All you "fair-weather fans, if you spent as much time coming out and supporting the team as you second guessing everything.dot dot dot".... Kahele Nai-ole writes, "I would have more sympathy for Coach Chow if he showed any degree of fight and fire. But every time he goes up to speak the media, he always gives off this "aw shucks" demeanor. Very uninspiring." That said, I don't think we can fire him so early. The buyout this early into his contract would be very high." And Kevin Reiss adds, "He's a crappy coach and it shows. We should not contribute any more money to the UH football program through ticket purchases, jerseys, pay per view, etc., until he is fired. Either UH gets a top notch coach or they should eliminate the football program. It would take at least five years to rebuild the football team if he was fired today." Lots of opinions on this story.
