Trends & Talkers: Queen Street EvictionsUPDATED 12:50 AM HST Dec 12, 2013Video Transcript
PAUSE FOR MUSIC Making way for progress - news of expedited evictions to make room for rail has a lot of you writing in. Yesterday we told you about how about half a dozen small businesses on Queen Street to have six months to get moving, so that the city's new rail system can move forward. Among them -- a longtime surf shop, an adoption agency, and a studio for aspiring actors. Owners say their INITIAL eviction was expected in 2015. But now -- they'll have to be out by next JUNE. Thea McClendon writes, "This is terrible! I hope that they can setup close by." Zachary Binks says, "Good job, they're probably people that would have used the rail because they worked there." And Matt Albrecht adds, "I would have brought in a tunneling machine and put it underground. minimal evictions, all the stations underground, no 'views' ruined." Let us know what you think of the evictions on our facebook page. Kenny?
