Trends & Talkers: Backward Running ManUPDATED 7:26 PM HST Nov 20, 2013Video Transcript
Running in reverse! Our feature on Shadrack Anderson, known as the "backwards running man" is the most popular story on our facebook page right now. If you've hiked Koko Crater on a Saturday morning, you've probably spotted him. He starts before sunrise, running backwards from Koko Head District Park... to the Makapu'u Lighthouse and back... a half marathon - then Koko Crater in reverse! He does the mountain twice! The 66 year old has done it every Saturday for the last 10 years. Rob Kanamu writes, "Easy, trend setter! Next weekend everyone will be hiking up Koko Head backwards...He's in shape and ripped for his age!" Bryttani Myles says, "I barely dragged myself up the thing on ALL FOURS.... more power to this dude. More power." And Keoki Balino adds, "Does he go down backwards too? Damn that's cool!!! I can't even do it forward. Big props." So many of you have been responding not just to this story, but to our entire "where you live" series - and now we want to hear from you. Is there a person or a place that you think makes Hawaii unique? We've got a section devoted to that on our facebook page - so share your suggestions!
