PAUSE FOR MUSIC Another approved high rise for the ever expanding Kaka'ako, has a lot of you weighing in tonight. This time more development at the old Honolulu Advertiser site. Yesterday, we told you about how the Hawaii Community Development Authority approved the second tower at the 801 South Street project in a six to one vote. Critics say the condos at 801 South Street will be too expensive for working-class people, even though the development is billed as workforce housing. The least expensive units are expected to cost $329,000, which supporters say meets the criteria for affordable housing. On Facebook Ray Pendleton writes, "Oahu's going to look like Hong Kong soon." S.a. Caldwell says, "The old Advertiser bldg. was a historic bldg. what a shame." Lois Noonan Keener Honolulu will look like NYC . Who will want to vacation here? Traffic will be horrendous--that rail will make little difference--pollution will increase-- mega amounts of trash. And for what? We want to know what you think about this new high rise.
