Sixty-seven Oahu restaurants and nearly 400 diners participated in Lanakila Meals on Wheels' annual dining event, The Good Table, on Thursday night.
Presented by Hawaii Government Employees Association and Island Insurance Companies, The Good Table raised more than $85,000 to provide meals for Hawaii kupuna.
The Good Table gathered Lanakila Meals on Wheels supporters across the island for a synchronized dining event to share a meal with family and friends at tables in participating restaurants, at the same time on October 4 at 6 p.m.
Dining establishments, ranging from casual eateries to fine dining restaurants, served special feasts for pre-purchased tables at their restaurants.
The Good Table provided an opportunity for restaurants to treat diners to an extraordinary and rare experience to help raise funds and awareness of senior hunger in Hawaii.
Alan Wong's Honolulu prepared a six-course, farm-to-table meal starting with a pickled shrimp, seared garlic ahi, Kampachi poke and Keahole abalone Seafood Salad, and finished with Pineapple Tarte Tatin and Chocolate Petit Fours. Chef Ed Kenny at Town offered a one-of-a-kind multi-course whole hog dinner utilizing all parts of a Kahaluu Shinsato pig with wine parings. Salt Kitchen & Tasting Bar treated diners to an exclusive five-course menu including oyster shooters, frog legs, Onaga, rabbit liver and wild boar.
Proceeds from the purchased tables will directly support Lanakila Meals on Wheels to provide meals and support for Hawaii's elderly in need. The event helps kick off the program's holiday "Sponsor Our Seniors" and "Santa for Seniors" drives where the community is invited to sponsor meals, donate cards, favors and gifts to brighten the holidays for seniors in need.

"In one evening, we were able to turn one great meal at participating dining establishments into thousands of meals for Hawaii’s seniors."
This year’s participating restaurants included Alan Wong’s Restaurants, Orchids, Tango Café, Stage, Michel’s, Roy’s (Hawaii Kai), Nobu, 3660 on the Rise, Cafe Laufer, Town, Hiroshi, Le Bistro, BluWater Grill, Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, California Pizza Kitchen, Sansei, d.k. Steakhouse, Pikake Terrace, Prince Court, Sarento’s, Indigo, Kaiwa, Beachhouse at the Moana, 12th Ave Grill, SALT Kitchen & Tasting Bar, Doraku Sushi, Tiki’s Grill & Bar, Hank’s Haute Dogs, Sidestreet Inn (Ala Moana), Mai Tai Bar, Ryan’s Grill, Downbeat Diner, Buzz’s Original Steakhouse (Kailua), Duke’s Waikiki, Hula Grill, Gyu-Kaku, Haili’s, Henry Loui’s, Aina Haina Chop Suey, Big City Diners, KFC Hawaii and Zippy’s.
