Eyes were glued to the sky at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe, as the Blue Angels showed off their aerial skills.

Families had fun under aircraft wings, had plenty to eat, and explored the big planes. However, everyone was waiting for the stars of the event, the Blue Angels.

Blue Angels fan Norman Glenn said, "It's a pretty spectacular show; the speed, the maneuvers, how close they get to each other. It's very impressive."

Fan Lisa Morelock said, "We like supporting our military and we really like seeing them display their skills, and show us what they got."

Air show coordinators say it is a display of the utmost flying skills. Some parts of the show include the Blue Angels flying at 400 miles per hour, flying less than 120 miles per hour, and making diamond formations.

The tight formations and speedy maneuvers are fun to watch, but some fans say it does get them a little worried.

"I thought wow, boy, if one of the jets came into us that would be horrible, but you can't really think about that," spectator Margie Garrett said.

"If it's not precision than something bad could happen," fan Connie Hall added.

But the spokesperson for the air show says the pilots have all these tricks under control. "These are some of the best pilots in the industry, both civilian and military performers. So they practice and train to do exactly what they are doing," First Lt. Diann Olson said.

Blue Angels pilot Captain Greg McWherter explained, "There's no flying by the seat of our pants. We do exactly what we are trained to do, and we do incremental steps to make sure we can do it very safely."
