Nuuanu shooting leaves three men arrested
An investigation into a shooting in Nuuanu Thursday has led police to another arrest after two of the initial suspects were released from custody.
Police arrested 38-year-old Wellington Faleafine at his Nuuanu home Saturday afternoon. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is believed to be the gunman in the shooting of a 27-year-old man at Nuuanu Gardens Apartments Thursday night.
Police also arrested Faleafine's 43-year-old wife for obstructing a police investigation. She bailed herself out early this morning.
Wellington has not yet been charged, but another suspect connected with the shooting, 35-year-old Michael Napeahi, was charged with burglary after he broke into a man's home and attempting to evade police. He is being held on $50,000 bail.
Police initially arrested 26-year-old Brandon Jamile and 30-year-old David Makilan on Wednesday for attempted murder in connection with the shooting. They were released pending investigation on Saturday.
Wellington has 9 prior criminal convictions in Hawaii including assault, two DUI convictions and three felony drug charges. He remains in police custody.
The 27-year-old victim was last listed in stable condition.
