hurdle toward his confirmation today.. The senate judicary committee is reccomending he be approved to take the high court seat. But it wasnt without controversy We go now to KITV4s Catherine Cruz for the story. The only real opposition to the nomination came from the Hawaii Bar Association which found Wilson unqualified to serve on the high court. But its secret process wouldnt allow lawmakers to hear the reason why they came to that decision. Allegations of harrassing a Miss Universe contestant, public drunkeness and involvement in an illegal rental on the North Shore. Those are among the things that threatened to derail the nominee. Judge Wilson took the thorny issues straight on. - 948- 9:58 - "There has been no complaint filed against me. I have never been arrested I have never been publically intoxicated that I have been aware of." Wilson testified that he felt the process was unfair. The support of his nominiation was overwhelming. The commitee unanimously supports wilsons conformation which now goes to the floor for a final vote. The committee is looking into a phone call that a former client placed today complaining that Wilson was incompetant and that he mishandled a sexual harassment case and even lost evidence. But no formal complaint was ever filed with the Diciplinary counsel. The committee says the senate has until March 18th to confirm Wilson--noting the public could still come forward with additional testimony.
