Small earthquake rattles parts of Big Island, Maui

The U.S. Geological Survey said a magnitude-4.4 earthquake struck off the Hamakua Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii Saturday.

Scientists said the 10:45 a.m. tremor was centered about 31 miles northeast of Honokaa, or 42 miles north of Hilo and was about 11 miles deep.

The USGS website showed people in the northern half of the Big Island and South Maui reporting weak-to-light shaking.

There are no immediate reports of damage and the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said no tsunami is expected.
