Siren testing on Oahu today
Leeward Coast, Honolulu Harbor, Fasi Municipal Bldg. set for testing
State crews will be siren testing Friday on Oahu at the following places between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.:
- Maili Point
- Maili Beach Park
- Waianae Shopping Center
- Waianae High School
- Pier 39/Honolulu Harbor
- Frank Fasi Municipal Building
Residents in these areas may hear the sirens sound for 30-seconds during the identified time period. Technicians will use data gathered from these tests to verify operational status and maintenance actions.
As a reminder, the monthly Emergency Alert System and Siren Warning System test will take place as normally scheduled on the first working day of the month, Monday, December 3, 2012, at 11:45 a.m.
Oahu residents may call State Civil Defense at (808) 733-4300 if they have any questions or concerns regarding this test of the Statewide Outdoor Siren Warning System. Contact the City and County of Honolulu Department of Emergency Management at (808) 723-8960 to report routine siren operations issues. Oahu residents may also sign up to adopt a siren at http://sirens.honolulu.gov.
State Civil Defense encourages the public to make use of redundant methods of warning including, but not limited to, text notification systems and NOAA Weather Radio.
