Maui police said the second suspect in an alleged car theft in Kihei Tuesday was in police custody.
The 28-year-old man from Wailuku turned himself in at around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday.
Another suspect in the alleged car theft was shot and killed by Maui police.
Police responded Tuesday to a report of a stolen vehicle parked at the Mana Kai Maui Resort. When officers arrived at 11:20 a.m., they found a suspect in the vehicle.
Police said the suspect attempted to run away and allegedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it at one of the officers.
The officer responded by firing his weapon at the suspect.
The shooting victim has been identified as 31-year-old Marshall M.K. Langford of Wailuku.
The police officer involved in the shooting is an 18-year veteran of the Maui Police Department, assigned to Kihei Patrol. He is on administrative leave pending an investigation as part of standard procedure by Maui police.
