Honolulu police say utility poles are down on Salt Lake Boulevard, closing the road between Kamehameha Highway and Kalaloa Street Tuesday morning.
The closure happened just after 4:30 a.m.
The Hawaiian Electric Company says three poles are down and initially 1,200 customers were without power in Salt Lake.
By 6 a.m., the number of affected customers were 400. At 9:23 a.m., power was restored to nearly all of the residential and commercial customers. Only six customers were without power which belonged to street lights, lights in parking lots, and the like.
HECO says utility pole replacement will take at least until 8 p.m. After that, Time Warner Oceanic Cable and Hawaiian Telcom crews will work on the utility poles.
Police say the poles may have come down due to wear and tear. It was not weather-related and there was no vehicle crash.
