Slash in termite tent on house causes seven hour lockdown
Honolulu Police shut down two streets in the Enchanted Lake subdivision of Kailua while they investigated a possible burglary of a fumigated home where the suspect was still inside when they arrived.
The owner of the home told KITV that she went to her home Tuesday morning with a pest control worker when they saw a hole that was cut in the protective tenting surrounding the fumigated home.
They also observed that some of her property had been moved to the outside of the tenting when the pest exterminator heard someone in an upstairs room of the home.
Emergency medical services and special weapons units were called to the scene. A command center was also been established in the Windward neighborhood.
Keolu Drive and Hamakua Drive have been shutdown where the two roads intersect.
No pedestrian traffic or vehicles are being allowed on the scene at this time.
Hamakua Drive and Keolu Drive were reopened just before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
