The state will shut down the exits from the Moanalua Freeway that feed into Moanalua road on November 1 to repair a pedestrian overpass that collapsed.  The 20-30 foot section of the bridge came down onto the freeway when it was hit by a piece of construction equipment that was being towed October 16.

According to Department of Transportation Spokesperson Caroline Sluyter, repairs will begin at 9 p.m., and will last until 4 a.m. on November 2.  The D.O.T. will be able to use the piece of overpass that was knocked down, in order to expedite repairs.

After the initial closure on November 2, Moanalua Road will be closed in the area on November 3, 4 & 5 from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. to finish repairs to the new pedestrian bridge.

The state has launched an investigation into the company, Tibbits Construction,  which was towing the truck without the proper permit.
