Regal Entertainment Group released a statement after the deadly shootings in Colorado early Friday:
"We are profoundly saddened by the tragedy that occurred at a Denver area theatre and are concerned for the victims and their families. The security and safety of our guests and staff is always our number one priority. As is our custom, we will continue to monitor the situation and adjust our security needs as necessary. In the meantime, our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families."
A Regal official said moviegoers should expect stricter controls over character attire and accessories.
Regal already has a policy in place to reserve the right to inspect the contents of any backpack, package or bag. Refunds will be handled upon guest request.
Regal has theaters in Honolulu, Kaneohe, Pearl City and Keauhou-Kona.
Ward Centers released this statement:
"Ward Centers holds the safety of its customers as its top priority and has increased mall security in light of the recent tragedy in Colorado. In addition, Consolidated Theatres has increased security measures at Ward Stadium 16. Specific details on the increased security measures are confidential in the interest of the public's safety."
"As we work to provide a safe environment for customers, we extend our deepest condolences to the victims of this terrible tragedy and their loved ones."
