Pumehana Street block closed for main break repairs
Water from break led to road collapse, gas leak
The Board of Water Supply says Pumehana Street in McCully, between Lime Street and Fern Street, was closed Thursday while crews repaired an 8-inch water main break.
Six homes and two low-rise apartment building were affected by the break. Water was restored by 2 p.m.
The main ruptured at around 6:45 a.m. The leaking water from the main weakened the soil and the road collapsed and broke a small gas line.
Emergency crews evacuated three homes and two apartment buildings while the hazard from the gas leak was investigated.
The gas leak was fixed by 9:20 a.m.
