The University of Hawaii sent out an email saying that there was an electrical outage on the Manoa campus affecting 13 buildings and classes were cancelled for Monday night.
The affected buildings include, but not limited to, Hawaii Hall, Saunders Hall, Crawford Hall, Queen Liliuokalani Center for Student Services, Hemenway Hall, Campus Center, Dean Hall, Shidler College of Business, and Miller Hall.
UH said the outage was due to an underground cable problem.
Just after 7:30 p.m., UH said that electricity was restored to all affected buildings. The buildings should be open on Tuesday. The air conditioning systems may take a while to fully cool the structures.
The Hawaiian Electric Company also said about 1,400 customers in Moiliili were affected Monday afternoon due to a power outage.
The outage happened at around 4 p.m.
Just before 6 p.m., HECO said the number of customers without power went down to 350.
HECO said it looks like the Moiliili outage also stemmed from a problem with the underground cable.
