Police search for hit-and-run driver in H-1 fatal

Investigators: 33-year-old man jumped from moving car

PEARL CITY, Hawaii -

Honolulu police are searching for a hit-and-run driver that was involved in a traffic death on the H-1 Freeway in Pearl City Thursday night.

It happened in the westbound lanes just after the Waipahu off-ramp.

Police say a 33-year-old man jumped out of a moving car at around 9:45 p.m.   Another car hit the man and left the scene.  The man died at the scene.

The freeway was closed just after 10 p.m.  Traffic was detoured to the Waipahu off-ramp.

The lanes were reopened by 1:45 a.m. Friday.
