Police make arrest in Big Island double murder
Matsumoto, 34, arrested on suspicion of 1st-degree, 2nd-degree murder
Two women are dead after police are investigating a reported shooting that occurred Monday night in Hilo on the Big Island, according to police.
Around 11:20 p.m., police responded to calls of gunshots on Leilani Street. Responding officers discovered two victims with apparent gunshot wounds.
Both victims were transported to the Hilo Medical Center where they were pronounced dead.
Sean Ivan Masa Matsumoto, 34, of Hilo was taken into custody at the scene on suspicion of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder.
Two children who were also at the residence at the time of the shooting, and were uninjured.
Police have closed roads between Hinano and Manono Streets as detectives conduct further investigations.
