Two men arrested for attempted murder
Two men were arrested after a stabbing on Prospect Street in Punchbowl.
Shaun Sutherland said a lady screaming at about 9 p.m. Friday made him rush outside.
"I came running up here and from over there I heard someone getting hit by something really loudly," said Sutherland.
Neighbors said the block is usually quiet, but they said people in one complex play loud music and drink outside.
Sutherland said it was these neighbors and the people with them that crowded in the street on Friday.
"They had weapons and stuff so I didn't want to intervene quickly. So I came to make sure 911 was coming before then," said Sutherland.
He said he saw someone holding a baseball bat and later found a broken off piece of metal on the ground. Neighbors said the woman that was screaming was the girlfriend of the man stabbed, and the person who attacked him was the girlfriend's cousin.
Sutherland said, "He had four looked like puncture wounds to the side of the body, and he was bleeding over there and there was a lady who had his head resting on her lap."
EMS said the 39-year-old man was taken to the hospital and was in critical condition.
Neighbor Dale Chun said he is going to keep a closer eye on his children now.
