Police arrest former UH QB Colt Brennan
Brennan arrested in Kailua late Wednesday
Police arrested former University of Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan just before midnight on Wednesday in Kailua.
Brennan was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and on suspicion of third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug. The DUI violation is a misdemeanor, but the drug violation is a class C felony.
A police source said Brennan was heading into Kailua and was pulled over at Kailua Road and Uluoa Street for running traffic lights. He was apparently driving a rental car, the source said.
He was arrested and taken to the Kailua police station and later transferred to the main police station on Beretania Street, where he remained Thursday morning.
Brennan's father, Terry Brennan, reached by telephone in Irvin, Calif., said his son left California on Sunday and was planning on moving permanently to Hawaii, where he was planning to find a job. He said he last spoke to his son on Tuesday.
Colt Brennan was cut by the Saskatchewan Rough-Riders of the Canadian Football League earlier this year.
In 2010, he and his girlfriend, Shakti Stream, were involved in a head-on collision on the Big Island that left Theresa Wang, a Big Island doctor, with a severe brain injury.
