Just what's possible for a Presidential Center at a prime ocean-front spot? We like the neighborhood and its a nice spot for familes to hang out," - CRUZ:42:5643:03 - Interest is up. Surfers say the governor and Senator Brian Shatz stopped by for a site visit just last week. This week, the agency that oversees the area will unveil plans for development a rapid transit train could bring to Kakakako. And a new building-- in Omaba's honor, whether it be a library, musuem or think tank figures into that. - 16:35- 16: 37 --"We are hoping it does dovetail nicely with rail," There's a medical school and childrens discovery center on one side and a marine lab on the other. The key is to tap the synergy in a plan that will meet with the president's approval. - Robert Perkins 17: 46 - 17 :59 "We dont know how the pieces will all fit together but I think we have a great site in a way because Kakako makai is owned and managed by alot of organizations thhat have education and advocacy as their mission," Perkins envisions a plan for the area that would ensure public access to the prime surf spot and more. - 16:08- 16: 21 -"We hope it will be a model of sustainable architecture and showcase advanced technologies for building responsibly in the age of climate change and rising sea levels" - maxine Burkett 23: 43 - 50 - " This has been an open community oriented effort to really pull all the diverse things in Hawaii." - 24:32- 24: 41 - "So we ae looking to pulling all the strengths of a partnership of the univeristy that could work here that could also work with a library and museum that is off island," Hints that the site may NOT be a library? One foot in the islands, another in Chicago.
