Pearl Harbor survivor laid to rest 70 years after attack
Sailor one of only 36 interred at USS Arizona

A sailor who survived the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941 was laid to rest at the USS Arizona.
Sailor Glenn Lane worked as a radioman on the USS Arizona when he survived not one, but two attacks during Pearl Harbor.
"He was blown off the ship (USS Arizona)," said Trish Lane Anderson, the sailor's daughter. "Then he swam to the USS Nevada and it got attacked too."
According to Lane's family, the 93-year-old, who passed away last year of natural causes, wanted to be buried alongside his shipmates.
"He always felt like his brothers were all down in the ship, there were so many guys he served on the Arizona with that didn't make it," said Anderson.
During a rare interment ceremony, Navy divers took Lane's ashes down to the sunken ship. Lane is only one of 36 survivors who have been interred on the USS Arizona.
"There's not a fraternity like this in the world, there's no other place in the United States where we actually inter to the ship that's lost," said Daniel Martinez, chief historian for the USS Arizona Memorial.
During the ceremony, there was also a rifle salute and a flyover in Lane's honor.
According to Martinez there are roughly thirteen USS Arizona survivors who are still alive today.
