Maui fire officials said an oven that was left on was to blame for a fire that destroyed a home in Nahiku Wednesday night.

Fire crews responded at 11:46 p.m.  The 900-square-foot wooden structure was fully engulfed upon arrival.

The fire was extinguished about seven hours later.

No one was at home at the time of the fire.

Damage is estimated at $250,000.
