"It just keeps on building," said Campbell High School teacher Corey Rosenlee, who helped to organize the event.

What do we want? Fair contracts. When do we want it? Now!" second-year teacher Jester Galiza led the cheer with a bullhorn. 

More than 100 people lined Fort Weaver Road in Ewa Beach for a protest of a different kind.

"We are following the rules the governor set. We'll work 8 to 3, but that's it," said Rosenlee.

The teachers are fed up with a forced contract, long negotiations and what they call an unfair deal, so they're working paid-hours only, to show just how much work they do for free.

"I stay after school in clubs, plus I go and coach," said teacher John DeVirgilio.

“I am exhausted!” said Hawaii State Teachers Association President Wil Okabe. After union leaders caught heat from members too, Okabe said they're trying to communicate better during a new round of negotiations for the next contract.

"Right now, we have a campaign to have town hall meetings. We'll be able to talk and get input from our members as we go into the negotiation process,” said Okabe.

Teachers at Campbell say they are united, as are the students who have joined them. 

"It feels good to be in a big group. I feel so small, but knowing I'm here makes me feel better,” said sophomore Tiare Kanahele.
