Oracle's Ellison could be buying Island Air

Oracle's Larry Ellison could be purchasing Island Air, according to a statement released Friday by Rep. Mele Carroll.

Carroll says she has not spoken directly to Ellison but would welcome a meeting to keep lines of communication open between him and the state.

"The possible purchase of Island Air will bring positive changes to both the airline and areas within our district.  Island Air's fleet needs some updating, so I hope that Mr. Ellison will consider this in order to assure the safety of interisland passengers," said Carroll.

Carroll represents District 13 which includes Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe and parts of Maui.

Ellison purchased the island of Lanai last June.
