The Maui County Fire Department is investigating an odor at the county morgue that sent one employee to the hospital Thursday.
Fire crews were called to 1831 Wili Pa Loop in the Wailuku Mill Yard just before 8:30 a.m. after people were evacuated from the building due to an odor.
A class of students on the second floor of the building started to feel ill from the odor, according to fire officials. About 10 people were evacuated.
Hazmat technicians conducted air sampling and testing. The odor had dissipated and the building was deemed safe at 9:30 a.m.
One employee, who complained of nausea, was treated at the scene and later transported to the hospital.
