No tsunami threat after 6.4-magnitude quake near Japan

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii after a 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck northeast of Japan Friday morning.
It happened just before 8:15 a.m. Hawaii time at the Kuril Islands.
Forecasters say based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected.
