No tsunami generated by large Indonesian earthquake
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said Friday that a major earthquake in Indonesia did not generate a destructive tsunami.
The magnitude-7.1 earthquake struck at 6:42 p.m. HST and was centered on the island of New Guinea about 717 miles northwest of Port Moresby and had a depth of 46.7 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
