Maui police said there were no injuries and only minor damage after a car drove into the path of an oncoming train in Kaanapali on Tuesday.

Officers responded to the intersection of Puukolii Road and Honoapiilani Highway for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a car and a "Sugar Cane" train.

The car was traveling east on Puukolii Road and failed to come to a stop at the train cross, according to investigators.  The train was traveling in the Honokowai direction.

The police report said all of the train's signals were working and all of the standard precautionary measures in accordance with Federal Guidelines were observed by the train’s engineer and crew.

Both the train and the vehicle suffered minor damage.
