Courtesy: Ohio State UniversityThe University of Hawaii released details of the contract for new Athletic Director Ben Jay Friday.
Jay will receive $293,000 annually for three years, with an additional two year option and several thousand dollars in bonuses if the school's programs excell.
Those bonuses include an entire month's salary if the UH Warrior football team wins the Mountain West Conference Championship.
Other bonuses include $7,500 if the football team makes it to a bowl game or if the men's basketball team makes it the NCAA post-season.
However, Jay will be subject to annual performance reviews.
According to University officials, Jay's salary is well below the average Athletic Director salary for Big 10 ADs, which is estimated at $521,000. Jay previously held a position as the Executive Assistant Athletic Director with the Ohio State University, a member of the Big 10.
University officials noted that his salary is above the Mountain West average salary for Athletic Directors, which is estimated at $264,000.
State law requires UH to make public the salaries of executive and managerial positions in an open meeting. The next Board of Regents meeting is scheduled for January 24, 201.
We'll have more on the release of these details coming up at KITV 4 News at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
