MILILANI, Hawaii -

Good news for Mililani residents.  Meheula Parkway will be repaved sooner than expected.

The road is a gauntlet of potholes and uneven surfaces.  When Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell released his plan to repave 1,500 lane miles of roads, residents were told it would not get done until 2014.

After numerous complaints, the city moved its schedule up.

"Notwithstanding whatever is on the mayor's list on the Internet, the work's going to begin during the fall of this year," said Councilman Ron Menor.

"It's like you're on a bucking bronco," said Mililani resident John Park.  "Your car's just rattling and rolling going down the street here -- it's terrible."

Unfortunately, because of the way the contracts are written it's difficult for the city to speed up repairs to other roads that are falling apart.
