Maui police identify Waihou hiking victim
Huff, 60, was from Boulder, Colo.
Maui police say a man who died after falling from a cliff on the Waihou Spring Trail has been identified.
The man was identified as 60-year-old Lynn Wyatt Huff of Boulder, Colo.
Police responded Saturday to the area of Olinda Road and the Bird Sanctuary and County Experimental Forest at around 11:37 a.m.
Officers walked about a mile down the trail toward the springs and met with the victim's wife, who showed them where her husband had fell while hiking.
Officers then walked about a half mile to the bottom of the ravine to the river bed. They hiked another half mile east through the river bed until they met with a woman who was with the victim. Huff had died at the scene.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Huff appeared to have fallen from a height of 20-to-25-feet suffering possible head injuries. Officers say the forest area had heavily saturated clay dirt, possibly from the rainfall in the area last week.
