Marine Corps Base Hawaii will conduct an aircraft mishap drill on Wednesday, Nov. 14, offshore, approximately one mile northeast of Pyramid Rock Beach.
Kailua and Kaneohe may notice increased watercraft and aircraft activity from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
During this time, local and military emergency vehicles will respond to exercise incidents and residents may see smoke from pencil flares.
The drill will focus on communication requirements for all subordinate, lateral and higher agencies and is designed to enhance aviation safety by simulating actual events that could occur if there was a mishap.
It also affords base commands the opportunity to work with federal, state and local agencies to enhance mission readiness.
