Oahu has first pedestrian fatality of the year
Honolulu police say a man in his 60s is dead after being struck by a vehicle on Farrington Highway near the Kahe Power Plant in Nanakuli Friday morning.
The crash happened just after 5 a.m. Police say a woman in her 40s was driving a white pickup truck when she apparently hit the man.
Police say the man was homeless.
Emergency Medical Services officials say the man was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition.
Investigators say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
Lanes on Farrington Highway in the town bound direction were being contraflowed while police investigated.
All lanes were opened up by 8:20 a.m.
