Honolulu police say one of its officers got a part of his finger bitten off by a 52-year-old man who was resisting arrest in the Makiki area Wednesday morning.
Officers were called to the scene on Wilder Avenue around 6 a.m. on a trespassing complaint.
Officers located the suspect and consulted with the property manager. HPD determined that the man was trespassing.
When the officer attempted to make the arrest, the suspect resisted and bit off the tip of the officer's finger.
The suspect was arrested for assault and trespassing.
The 41-year-old male officer was hospitalized in serious condition.
