Man, 23, arrested in Makaha shooting probe

Victim hospitalized in extremely critical condition

Honolulu police say they are investigating a shooting in Makaha Wednesday evening.

Around 8:30 p.m., police say a 26-year-old man was shot on Lahaina Street.

The man went to Waianae Comprehensive Center for care and was later transported to the Queen's Medical Center.  He was in extremely critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

The victim was identified as Chris Medeiros.

At 8:30 p.m., police responded to a call of shots fired on Noholio Street.  When police arrived on the scene, they found a 23-year-old man who they say implicated himself in the Lahaina Street shooting.

Police arrested the suspect and arrested him on suspicion of attempted murder in the second degree.  No one was hurt at the Noholio Street scene and they did not find signs of gun shots.

The suspect was identified as Chad Duran.

Police say both men are from the Waianae area and know each other.
