"He was great. He could make people very comfortable talking to them," Moffatt said.

"Everybody who came in and talked to Eddie realized after talking to him for a minute, that he loved what they did," according to Borges, who said that is why he was so well liked and often got the scoop from Hollywood's biggest stars. "He made everybody a bigger star than they were before they got into his column."

Black said, "We were all lucky to have Eddie, because I think he being as natural as he was, he was just a natural kind of entertaining guy."

"Eddie was a very kind, generous, caring person," Moffatt added.

Borges said Sherman did not want a public funeral and that no public services are planned.
