The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory until 6 a.m. Tuesday for the north and west shores of Kauai, Oahu and Molokai, along with the north shore of Maui and the west shore of the Big Island.

Forecasters said a large west-northwest swell peaked Monday and will diminish through Tuesday, bringing 15-to-18 foot waves. Surf along the west shore of the Big Island is expected to be 5-to-8 feet.

Beach goers, swimmers and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
