Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell announced Saturday that the Koko Head Shooting Complex will expand its hours beginning April 3.
The complex will now open an hour earlier and close an hour later on weekdays.
It will also be open an extra hour on the weekends and on most holidays.
"For the remainder of this fiscal year, we're just moving a few addition people over to help out," Caldwell said. "In the coming year, we have put money in our budget for each of the districts where parks reside to help improve things like this in our parks."
Shooting complex manager Mike Muramoto said, "Guys are here from like four in the morning so they can get a shooting spot when we open. So any additional hours would be really good. We're going to play it by ear for the first couple months, see how it goes, and there's even talk about maybe even expanding it further."
Hours at the complex were cut in 2010.
