LIHUE, Hawaii -

Justin Wynn Klein, 37, pleaded not guilty Tuesday in a Kauai courtroom after authorities spent nearly four months tracking him down for the attempted murder of a Japanese national.

Klein's trial is set for Aug. 5.  He is being held on $1 million bail.

Klein had been a fugitive since Dec. 16 when he was reportedly seen throwing a 31-year-old Japanese woman from a cliff in the Kalalau Valley on Kauai's North Shore.

He was arrested last Saturday at Lydgate Beach Park.

In December, a grand jury indicted Klein for second-degree attempted murder.
