Kauai police have closed Kuhio Highway in Wainiha Tuesday while crews recover the body of a 40-year-old man.

The Wainiha man was found near his sports utility vehicle on Kuhio Highway, just north of the Lumahai Bridge.

Police closed the highway in both directions, between Lumahai Bridge and the Wainiha General Store, until 3:08 p.m.

The man's identity has not yet been confirmed.

An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
