A Kalaheo man was arrested for the 2006 murder of his estranged wife, Sandra Galas, 27.

The Kaua'i Police Department arrested 40-year-old Darren Galas of Kalaheo

On January 25th, 2006, Sandra, was found strangled to death in her car parked inside the garage of her 'Ele'ele home. Sandra was the mother of two young boys ages three and five.

Since 2006 the police tried to gather evidence to bring charges against Sandra's killer.

Sandra's father, Larry Mendonca, partnered with the YWCA Kauai for an annual Never Forget Sandy G Golf Tournament. Money raised from the event was used to help abused women and children.
