The Kalalau Trail on Kauai is back open to the public.

The trail had been closed since Dec. 17 after police say a man threw a Japanese tourist off a cliff.

Police are still looking for that man, 37-year old Justin Wynn Klein, who they say is dangerous and should not be approached.

Authorities caution visitors to be alert of their surroundings and never hike alone.

The park status could change at any time, so they advise visitors to read notices posted at the trail head.
