KAHULUI, Hawaii -

The first deadly vehicle collision in Hawaii in 2013 may have been on Maui.

A 61-year-old woman died after a two-vehicle collision in Kahului Tuesday night.  The woman was identified as Constance Scott, according to Maui County police.

Police say a silver Toyota Camry was traveling north on Kahului Beach Road at just before 7 p.m. when it attempted a left turn at Wahine Pio Avenue.

When the Camry was making its turn, it was broadsided by a red Toyota pickup truck that was traveling south on Kahului Beach Road.

Scott was a front seat passenger in the Camry.  The driver of the Camry, a 64-year-old man, was hospitalized in stable condition.  Both Scott and the driver were wearing seat belts.

The 31-year-old man driving the Toyota pickup and the 35-year-old man who was a passenger in the pickup truck were not injured.

The posted speed limit in the area is 35 mph.

This was Maui County's first fatal crash of the year.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
