A 90-year-old man crashed his S.U.V. through the front of the Koloa Post Office on Kauai around 12 p.m. Thursday.
Kauai County Police Dept.A 90-year-old man crashed his S.U.V. through the front of the Koloa Post Office on Kauai around 12 p.m. Thursday.
The man told police he was pulling into a parking space, but was unable to stop. The vehicle took down a glass wall at the front of the building, damaging roughly 500 post office boxes.
The driver was not injured. Fortunately, no one was in that section of the post office at the time of the crash.
The Koloa Post Office remains open, however, the owners of P.O. Boxes 1501-1560 will have to get their mail at the front office window until further notice.
Post office officials do not yet know when repairs to the damaged boxes will be complete.
