Hundreds came out to Laie to watch their hometown boy Manti Te'o win or lose on Saturday. Love for the local boy was felt hours before the Heisman trophy announcement, especially love from his sisters.

"It's overwhelming and humbling at the same time to see everyone turn out for our brother, and to see all the support that's surrounded around him in our community and across the state," said Te'o's sister BrieAnne Te'o.

His sisters said everyone grows up together in Laie, so the celebration of Manti Te'o's accomplishments is shared with everyone here.

"This is the ultimate prize. You are the best player in the nation, and for him to come from this park you know from this community way out Kahuku, then went to Panuoho from the little state of Hawaii... it's unbelievable," said Te'O's uncle Junior AhYou.

The announcement was made, and he didn't win, but that didn't affect the support for Te'o.

"He still got the national championship to play. He still got things to go. We are just proud of him today," said family friend Bruce Naluai.  

He is still the most decorated player in college football history, and still a loved brother.

"All we are worried about is whether he will be here for Christmas. That's all we want really we don't care about the awards. We just want him here for Christmas," said BrieAnne.

The next viewing party will be in Laie Park when he plays with Notre Dame against Alabama for the National Championship.
