House fire temporarily closes Mott Smith Drive

TheBus not able to use the road while crews worked on fire

 UPDATED 4:17 PM HST Mar 29, 2013

Fire officials say Mott Smith Drive was temporarily closed on Friday due to a house fire.

The first alarm was called just after 7:30 a.m. at the 2000 block of Mott Smith Drive in Makiki.

Flames were under control by 7:45 a.m. and extinguished at 7:55 a.m.

TheBus could not use Mott Smith Drive while fire crews were battling the flames.

Fire officials say the damage was confined to a bedroom.  Investigators say the fire was set accidentally by a vagrant occupying the home.  The person was not caught.

The home was scheduled to be demolished before the fire.

No injuries were reported.

Damage was estimated at $25,000.
