Honolulu travel agency is now under investigation... after a growing number of ticket holders say... they were SCAMMED. As KITV4's Lara Yamada found out in tonight's top story at 6... ...the man behind the business -- is no where to be found. BEN 143-51 So, you came down here to try and find him? Yes. To see what was going on, what happened, because I want to go home. Heading home to Wisconsin after his father's funeral... Ben says when he tried to check-in -- the ticket he THOUGHT was paid for -- was not. BEN 52-55 She paid $722 dollars in cash for this. LARA/BEN 222-25 You tried to call? I have. I've tried to call. Nobody's answering. 1132-35 NATS: Knocking. Hello? Anybody there? He says his sister bought the ticket from Riverside Travel owner Tim Nguyen. Ben was supposed to leave this morning, but ended up paying a THOUSAND MORE on a later flight -- to give him time to try to find Nguyen. ROGER 1604 So you paid about a thousand dollars? Yes. That would be IN CASH. Another customer, Roger Vigut says, it was the ONLY kind of payment Nguyen would accept. His receipt -- undated -- shows a Philippines Flight for February. He decided it was time to call and check. ROGER 1706 Are you worried? Yeah of course. STANDUP: 1648-00 The lights are still on, the open sign is flipped, even the outside gate is open, but according to building owners, nobody has seen the owner of Riverside Travel since Friday -- even the police, who are now investigating the case. Honolulu Police detectives say they are now investigating five, but possibly, up to nine cases of felony theft. A short visit to his business -- still littered with stacks of paper -- garnered more claims. In the meantime... Vigut returned with THIS news: ROGER 1140-43 What they say? They say my reservation was canceled. Another apparent victim... in a case putting travelers on high alert. ROGER 1203-07 You must be pretty upset. What can I do? LARA 352-00 I'd be civil. I'd keep cool. I'd just ask him to make it right. Could you please make this right? Lara Yamada KITV4 News.
