Home surveillance video helps police with burglary investigation
A Honolulu mother could prove to be a real crime fighter. She told police someone broke into her house and stole some prized possessions.
Even though it was broad daylight, police didn't have much to go on, until she showed them her secret weapon, surveillance footage.
Kelly Roussea can't believe how close she came to being face to face with a burglar.
"I had actually had left the house, forgot something, came back quickly," said homeowner Roussea.
Just 20 minutes later, a man showed up at her front door.
He might have thought nobody was looking. What he didn't realize was there was a surveillance camera recording his every move.
A man can be seen ringing the door bell with his fist, he tries the knob with his elbow, and one of her four cameras catches him going down the side of the house.
"It was gut wrenching, gut wrenching, I mean I was sick to my stomach. When you actually know someone came into your home," said Roussea.
The video also shows him come back up the side of the house holding a black purse, and it looks like he's trying to stay out of sight.
Roussea said some of her most important possessions are missing.
